USA Women’s National Team Wins COPABE Pan Ams

The USA Baseball Women’s National Team completed a dominating performance at the COPABE Women’s Pan-Am Championships by defeating Venezuela, 8-5, to earn the gold medal.

The win earns the U.S. a spot in the 2020 World Cup. Team USA outscored its opponents 124-20 over its seven wins.

U.S. second baseman Alex Hugo was named the tournament MVP. She hit .652 with five doubles and four home runs with 18 RBIs. But picking an MVP from among Team USA’s hitters was tough. The team hit .500/.602/.826 overall and had 45 extra-base hits in just seven games.

Venezuela won the silver, and Canada topped Mexico, 11-1, in the bronze medal game. All three qualify for next year’s World Cup.
