College baseball’s most storied programs are easy to name. Texas. Southern California. Arizona State. These teams have filled trophy cases, sent legends to the big leagues and piled up wins for more than a century.
But when you sort them strictly by all-time victories, the very top of the list delivers a curveball. The No. 1 program isn’t a perennial College World Series contender, nor is it a member of a power conference.
Yet its lead is so large it might never be caught.
The top 25 winningest programs in college baseball history reflect more than just championship banners. They’re a mix of dynasties and grinders, teams that have dominated in certain eras and others that have simply endured, racking up victories over generations. From bluebloods with multiple national titles to programs whose best asset has been consistency, the list offers a lens into the sport’s rich past and evolving present.
1. Fordham
- All-time wins: 4,630
- Total seasons: 165
Some baseball records just might never be broken. Rickey Henderson’s stolen bases, Barry Bonds’ home run total, Mariano Rivera’s saves, maybe even Pete Incaviglia’s single-season NCAA home run record—though that has felt ever so slightly more vulnerable in recent years. You can add Fordham’s all-time win total to that list, as well. The Rams sit nearly 1,000 victories ahead of second-place Texas and while recent history hasn’t been kind to Fordham—it last recorded a winning season in 2021 and has reached the NCAA Tournament field just once since 2000—nearly two centuries of college baseball action has built up a comfortable cushion.
2. Texas
- All-time wins: 3,745
- Total seasons: 129
It could take decades for Texas to catch Fordham in total wins, but the Longhorns hold the edge in all-time win percentage—a much tighter race, with Florida State close behind. Texas has reached the super regional round three times in the last five years, a run that includes two College World Series appearances. Head coach Jim Schlossnagle’s team is expected to contend again in 2026 after winning the SEC regular season title in his first year at the helm in 2025. In its history, Texas has claimed six national championships and finished as runner-up six times.
3. Stanford
- All-time wins: 3,135
- Total seasons: 132
While first and second place are well-insulated, things start to become more interesting in the third position. Stanford and Michigan have jockeyed for the spot in recent years with the Cardinal overtaking the Wolverines in 2022 and narrowly holding onto the final podium position since. Coach David Esquer guided Stanford to three-straight College World Series from 2021-23, a stretch that added 130 victories to the program’s tally. It will be interesting to track the Cardinal’s all-time wins progress over the next several years as it tries to acclimate to the densely-packed ACC.
4. Michigan
- All-time wins: 3,124
- Total seasons: 152
Michigan has enjoyed pockets of dominance throughout its 152-year history—only Fordham has played more seasons. The Wolverines won national titles in 1953 and 1962 and reached the College World Series five times from 1978 to 1984, the most successful stretch in program history when measured by wins and postseason presence. While its loudest success came in that era, Michigan has remained competitive in recent years, with a trip to Omaha in 2019 and no losing seasons since 2012.
5. Florida State
- All-time wins: 3,115
- Total seasons: 78
Mike Martin took Florida State to Omaha so often during his illustrious career that it felt odd when the Seminoles weren’t among the final eight teams standing. That success, combined with a longer season than many—good weather and no schedule restrictions made this possible—helped Florida State make up considerable ground in the all-time win race despite being the only team on this list with fewer than 80 seasons played. The program that produced Buster Posey, Cal Raleigh, Deion Sanders and others has done more winning than any other team in the nation since playing its first season in 1947.
6. North Carolina
- All-time wins: 3,089
- Total seasons: 136
The Tar Heels ranked No. 9 on this list at the end of the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, which also marked the conclusion of Mike Fox’s 22-year tenure. Under Fox, North Carolina reached Omaha seven times and posted 16 seasons of 40-plus wins. Fox handed the keys to his former North Carolina Wesleyan player and longtime Tar Heel pitching coach Scott Forbes ahead of 2021, and Forbes has impressed since—winning 200 games in five years and guiding the program to the College World Series in 2024 and super regionals in 2022 and 2025. Recent success in Chapel Hill has the Tar Heels in the hunt for a top-five spot on the all-time wins list.
7. Clemson
- All-time wins: 3,084
- Total seasons: 128
Clemson and North Carolina have traded spots in the rankings for years, often sitting back-to-back. The Tigers are among the nation’s best programs to never win a national championship—a group that also includes Florida State and the Tar Heels—but have reached Omaha 12 times, most recently in 2010. Under head coach Erik Bakich, Clemson has hosted three straight regionals from 2023-25, matching the program record, and added 133 wins to its tally in just three seasons.
8. Southern California
- All-time wins: 3,071
- Total seasons: 131
No team has won more College World Series titles than USC’s 12, which includes a run of five straight from 1970-74 and another in 1998, the Trojans’ most recent championship. That national dominance has faded in recent decades—USC has appeared in just two regionals over the last 20 years—but the program now has a chance to reestablish stability as a member of the more forgiving Big Ten conference.
9. Arizona State
- All-time wins: 3,069
- Total seasons: 114
The Sun Devils have produced some of the sport’s most iconic names, including Barry Bonds and Reggie Jackson, and dominated from the early 1960s through the early 2000s. Sustaining that success has proven difficult, especially recently, as they missed the NCAA Tournament three straight years from 2022-24—the longest drought in program history. Those struggles have dropped ASU from No. 7 in 2020 to No. 9 on the all-time wins list with North Carolina and Clemson climbing the ladder.
10. Arizona
- All-time wins: 3,068
- Total seasons: 120
Arizona trailed archrival Arizona State by 39 wins entering the 2021 season. By the start of 2025, the gap had closed to nine, and now—heading into 2026—just one game separates the second-year Big 12 members. Arizona owns four national titles, most recently in 2012, and made its 18th College World Series appearance in 2025.
11. Texas A&M
- All-time wins: 2,943
- Total seasons: 123
The Aggies’ climb to No. 11 has come largely in recent decades, with six teams reaching the College World Series since 1993, including two of the three squads coached by Jim Schlossnagle from 2022-24. Texas A&M has missed the NCAA Tournament just 10 times since 1990 and qualified every year from 2007-19. With 125 wins separating them from No. 10 Arizona and 54 ahead of No. 12 Mississippi State, the Aggies are well-positioned to hold this spot for years to come.
12. Mississippi State
- All-time wins: 2,889
- Total seasons: 136
Like its conference-mate Texas A&M, Mississippi State has done much of its winning in recent decades, with eight of its 12 College World Series appearances coming since 1990—including its first national title in 2021 under Chris Lemonis. Legendary coach Ron Polk accounted for nearly 40% of the Bulldogs’ all-time victories over two stints atop the program. This offseason, the program turned to longtime Virginia skipper Brian O’Connor to lead its next chapter.
13. LSU
- All-time wins: 2,869
- Total seasons: 130
Is this the most successful team in the modern era of college baseball? The Tigers have reached the College World Series 20 times since the beginning of the Skip Bertman era in 1984 and won eight national championships, including in 2023 and 2025 under Jay Johnson. LSU has won 17 regular season conference titles, including 11 since 1990 and reached the NCAA Tournament in all but four seasons since 1985.
14. Oklahoma State
- All-time wins: 2,861
- Total seasons: 114
Oklahoma State has steadily climbed the all-time wins list since the 1980s, a decade defined by seven consecutive College World Series trips from 1981-87 and four more appearances by 1999. The Cowboys returned to Omaha in 2016 and, under coach Josh Holliday, have reached the NCAA Tournament every season since 2013. While still chasing just its second trip to Omaha since 2000, the program remains a model of consistent success.
15. Alabama
- All-time wins: 2,859
- Total seasons: 132
Alabama might not be mentioned alongside SEC powers like Texas, Texas A&M or LSU, but its all-time resume is impressive. The Crimson Tide have reached the College World Series five times, including three trips in the 1990s under Jim Wells, and finished as national runner-up in both 1983 and 1997.
16. Washington State
- All-time wins: 2,840
- Total seasons: 130
Washington State’s recent postseason track record is sparse, with just two NCAA Tournament appearances since 1990, but its long-term success is rooted in the eras of Buck Bailey and Chuck “Bobo” Brayton. Except for a three-year stretch during World War II when Bailey served in the Navy, the pair led every Cougars team from 1927 to 1994 and guided the program to four College World Series appearances, including a runner-up finish in 1950. The Cougars’ lack of modern-era relevance in baseball has caused them to slip in the all-time standings at a steady rate, including four spots since 2020.
17. Miami
- All-time wins: 2,827
- Total seasons: 81
Miami has packed an extraordinary amount of success into far fewer seasons than most programs on this list. In just 81 years, the Hurricanes have amassed 2,827 wins, claimed four national championships and finished as the national runner-up twice, cementing their place among college baseball’s elite. The Hurricanes are back on the up under head coach JD Arteaga, who returned to the NCAA Tournament in 2025 after missing the field in 2024.
18. South Carolina
- All-time wins: 2,814
- Total seasons: 133
Like several of its SEC peers, South Carolina’s greatest achievements have come in the past few decades. The Gamecocks captured back-to-back national titles in 2010 and 2011, finished as runners-up in 1975, 1977 and 2002, and came close to a three-peat before falling just short in the 2012 finals. In 2025, the program began a new era under Paul Mainieri, enduring a disappointing debut season but retooling through the transfer portal with an eye toward a quick return to prominence.
19. Florida
- All-time wins: 2,809
- Total seasons: 111
Florida has been one of the sport’s dominant programs in the 21st century, becoming a fixture in Omaha under Kevin O’Sullivan. Since taking over in 2008, he has guided the Gators to nine College World Series appearances and a national title in 2017. Florida hasn’t missed the NCAA Tournament since 2007, has climbed six spots in the all-time rankings since 2020 and leads the nation with 38 MLB debuts since 2008.
20. Oklahoma
- All-time wins: 2,808
- Total seasons: 120
Oklahoma had a nine-year head start on Florida, yet the two programs enter 2026 separated by just one win on the all-time leaderboard. The Sooners own national titles from 1951 and 1994 and have made 11 College World Series appearances, most recently in 2022 when they finished as runner-up. Since the 1970s, they’ve consistently operated at a regional-caliber level and now appear poised to push that standard even higher.
21. Illinois
- All-time wins: 2,794
- Total seasons: 146
Illinois owes much of its place on this list to its longevity, with more seasons played than all but Fordham and Michigan. The Illini have never reached the College World Series and have advanced to a super regional only once in program history. Since 2000, they’ve made four NCAA Tournament appearances, most recently in 2024.
22. Fresno State
- All-time wins: 2,782
- Total seasons: 97
Fresno State’s signature moment came in 2008, when it captured its lone national championship, but the program’s success extends well beyond that run. The Bulldogs have made four College World Series appearances—three since 1988—while winning seven regular season conference titles and 11 conference tournaments. They’ve reached the NCAA Tournament 11 times since 2000, including consecutive trips in 2024 and 2025. Fresno State needed under 100 seasons to crack this list, though it will need to pick up its pace to safely stick for more than a few more years.
23. California
- All-time wins: 2,781
- Total seasons: 134
California’s 134-season baseball history has featured dramatic swings, but its highs have been significant. The Golden Bears won national titles in 1947 and 1957 and have made six College World Series appearances, with the first and most recent separated by more than six decades. Lately, however, the program has slipped back into a rut, reaching the NCAA Tournament just once since 2016 and recorded four losing seasons over the last five years.
24. Minnesota
- All-time wins: 2,757
- Total seasons: 137
Minnesota is one of the longest-tenured programs on this list and has long been a steady presence in the Big Ten, most recently winning both the regular season and conference tournament titles in 2018. The Gophers haven’t been to the College World Series since 1977 or advanced to a super regional since that 2018 run, leaving them removed from their peak years, but their recent success shows the program is still capable of making noise even if its all-time standing continues to fade.
25. Ohio State
- All-time wins: 2,745
- Total seasons: 142
Ohio State closes out the top 25 on the strength of a dominant mid-20th century run, highlighted by four College World Series appearances between 1951 and 1967, a runner-up finish in 1965 and a national title in 1966. Recent decades have been far less fruitful, with just nine NCAA Tournament berths since 2000—only three of them coming after 2010 and none since 2019. After a 13-win season in 2025, the Buckeyes risk falling out of the all-time top 25, with UCLA closing in at 2,725 victories.
Rounding Out The Top 30
26. UCLA: 2,725 wins
27. Notre Dame: 2,693 wins
28. Georgia Tech: 2,681 wins
29. Oregon State: 2,645 wins
30. San Diego State: 2,637 wins
