If you’re anything like me when it comes to baseball cards and collectibles, the holiday shopping season isn’t just about gifting for others, but also loading up on really fun rips and merchandise at super-discounted prices.
Whatever your motivation, ’tis the season for great deals. Here are some of the more interesting ones out there right now. We’ll try to update this list as more deals are posted.
Save 30% On A BA Subscription
First off—and we’re definitely biased here—perhaps the best deal out there right now will save you 30% on a one-year digital or combo subscription to Baseball America with code BA30. (The combo sub gets you a year of the print magazine, too.) It’s the biggest sale of the year for us, and the extra insight you’ll have on fantasy baseball and card collecting alone will pay for the cost of the subscription in a matter of weeks.
Don’t forget: This offer expires at 11:59 p.m. ET on Cyber Monday evening, so sign up now!
Collectibles From Topps & Fanatics
Looking at collectibles, Topps launched their holiday sale on Tuesday, with deals of up to 35% off cards, plus discounts on supplies and Topps-branded merchandise.
Fanatics will be having sales all weekend, usually with discounts of anywhere from 20% to 30%. Keep in mind that discounts often don’t apply to some of their baseball card offerings (though there are a few discounted boxes and sets), though you can still get free shipping for orders over $99 with code 99SHIP.
Speaking of Fanatics, two pro tips:
- Check your credit cards to see if they offer Fanatics-specific cash back opportunities. Most cards offer either 5% or 10% cash back once activated.
- You can often find discounted Fanatics gift cards on the sites of major retailers, including Best Buy, which has $100 Fanatics gift cards for $85, and BJ’s, which has them for $79.99 (if you are a BJ’s member). And because delivery on digital gift cards is almost instantaneous, you can use these gift cards on already-discounted Fanatics merch AND add on the free shipping code above (if you hit the $99 mark) in most cases.
MiLB Auctions
The official Minor League Baseball online store is currently running a deal where you can save up to 30%, depending on how much you spend. And make sure to check out our friend MILB Promos on X, as he’ll once again be aggregating the best deals across all the individual MiLB teams heading into the shopping weekend.
Speaking of minor league baseball, their auction site is currently holding their 2024 “Year in Review” auction, which features a ton of cool specialty jerseys and other stuff from all across the minors. The MLB Auction site also has a bunch of cool collectibles available, many of which are tied to charities, which means whatever you’re spending is also helping others.
Deals On Baseball Caps, Gear & Collectibles
Perhaps baseball caps are more your thing?
New Era is already running sales of up to 60% off on their site, and a Cyber Monday promo where you can save 40% on orders over $250. You can also get free shipping on orders over $50.
Another shop I really like for caps is Mickey’s Place up in Cooperstown, N.Y. I discovered it on a trip to the Hall of Fame some years back, and their selection of caps is amazing. All the stuff from the majors and minors that the big shops are usually sold out of, they’ll have in stock. And they’re offering 10% off online through Dec. 15 with code BF24.
How about bats, gloves and other gear? Our friends at Louisville Slugger, Wilson, EvoShield and Rapsodo have started launching their Black Friday specials as well.
Are you into throwbacks? Retro apparel giant Mitchell & Ness is offering discounts of up to 40% if you want to go old-school with your baseball apparel.
Or maybe you’re into bobbleheads? The Bobblehead Hall of Fame (yes, that is real!) is offering discounts in their online store.
Baseball Card Retailers
Of the major baseball card retailers, our friends at Blowout Cards tell us they’ll be dropping a number of deals on special cases as the week goes on, so stay tuned for that. Plus, a handful of customers who buy the upcoming 2024 Bowman Draft release will walk away with a FREE copy of BA’s 2025 Prospect Handbook.
Steel City Collectibles has posted its Cyber Monday offerings, as has Dave & Adam’s, whose Cyber Monday sale has already begun.
Make sure to check back at those sites all weekend for more even more deals, and remember that most of these retailers offer free shipping with a $199 purchase.
The major retailers such as Amazon and Walmart often offer deals on various baseball cards and collectibles, so keep an eye out there, too. Another pro tip: There are always great Black Friday weekend sales on sleeves, top-loaders and other supplies on Amazon, so it’s a good time to stock up.
Stay Informed With Baseball & Collectible Newsletters
And finally, want something you can get for free not just during Black Friday, but all year? Our Baseball America newsletters are just the thing for you and the baseball fans in your life. Plus, our partner Sports Collectors Daily offers its headlines free via email each Monday through Friday, as well, so you can keep tabs on collectibles all year long.
Again, we’ll continue to update this story as more retailers add discounts and special promotions. And make sure to also check in on sites like eBay for discount codes and more for all of your holiday shopping needs.
Happy Thanksgiving!
