Spring Training MLB Prospect Report—March 25, 2021

Atlanta Braves

—No. 2 prospect Ian Anderson had by far his longest start of the spring, pitching six innings of four-run ball against the Pirates. The 22-year-old righthander gave up eight hits, walked one and struck out one.

Minnesota Twins

—No. 3 prospect Trevor Larnach hit his second home run of the spring, a solo shot to center field against the Rays. The 24-year-old outfielder reached Double-A in 2019 and could be ready for a promotion to the big leagues this season.

—No. 4 prospect Ryan Jeffers had his best day of the spring, notching his first multi-hit game and crushing a two-run homer to left-center field. The 23-year-old catcher is 7-for-27 (.259) this spring with a home run, five RBIs and three runs scored.

Milwaukee Brewers

—No. 1 prospect Brice Turang had his first multi-hit game of the spring and stole a base against the Rockies. The 21-year-old shortstop finished 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Pittsburgh Pirates

—Just as few hitters were better than Ke’Bryan Hayes after his promotion to the majors last September, the same has been true for the spring circuit. The Pirates’ No. 1 prospect struck again on Wednesday, collecting two more hits in three at-bats and raising his average to .450 (18-for-40) with nine extra-base hits and eight RBIs.

—No. 3 prospect Nick Gonzales came in as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning and provided instant offense with his first home run, a solo shot to left-center field. The 2020 first-rounder from New Mexico State has three hits in 12 at-bats with three RBIs and three runs scored.

St. Louis Cardinals

—After initially entering the game for Nolan Arenado as a pinch runner in the sixth inning, No. 15 prospect Justin Williams hit a two-run single to left field in the eighth inning to give the Cardinals a pair of insurance runs against the Mets.

San Francisco Giants

—No. 2 prospect Joey Bart added his second homer of spring training, an eighth-inning solo shot against the Padres. The 24-year-old catcher will likely start the season in the upper minors before making his way back to the majors.

Seattle Mariners

—No. 6 prospect Taylor Trammell hit his second home run of the spring, a solo shot in the second inning against the Cubs. The 23-year-old outfielder, who was acquired from the Padres in August as part of the package for Austin Adams, Austin Nola and Dan Altavilla, is hitting .289 (11-for-38) with four RBIs and two stolen bases.

Toronto Blue Jays

—No. 4 prospect Simeon Woods Richardson struck out four batters in three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and walking one. The 20-year-old righthander this spring has pitched eight scoreless frames, allowing four hits, walking two and striking out eight.
