Breakout Prospects
Jhonny Level, SS
Preseason Rank: 11
BA Grade/Risk: 50/Extreme
Track Record: Level was the centerpiece of San Francisco’s 2024 international signing class. The switch-hitting infielder inked for a bonus of $997,500 and reported to the Dominican Summer League for his professional experience. There, he was one of the organization’s best performers and finished with a slash line of .275/.393/.517 with a strikeout rate of just 16.7%.
Scouting Report: Level is a compact, strong player with surprising strength and quickness for someone with his build. Scouts in the Dominican Republic reported an elite athlete who hit the ball hard for a player of his age. He finished the year with a zone-miss rate of just 13.1% and a 90th percentile exit velocity of 100.7 mph. The thump in his bat allowed him to hit 10 home runs, making him one of just five players in the DSL to reach double-digits. Level’s swings from both sides of the plate are quick and designed to keep the barrel in the zone a long time while shooting line drives all over the outfield grass. He moves decently well at shortstop, and his plus arm would fit just fine if he has to move over to third base. As an amateur, Level was lauded for his advanced feel for the game.
The Future: After a successful turn in the DSL, Level will advance stateside in 2025 and is likely to spend his full season in the Arizona Complex League. He has the upside of a shortstop who can provide plenty of power from both sides of the dish.

Josh Bostick, RHP
Preseason Rank: 17
BA Grade/Risk: 45/High
Track Record: Bostick’s college career—which also saw him get reps at shortstop and center field—took him from Texas to Florida and then back to Texas. His final stop was at Grayson JC in 2023, when he struck out 103 hitters in 60.2 innings. The Giants drafted him in the eighth round and signed him for $397,500. He got his feet wet in Rookie ball before spending all of 2024 at Low-A San Jose.
Scouting Report: The gem of Bostick’s arsenal is a mid-90s fastball that peaked at 99 mph and averaged 20 inches of induced vertical break. He pounded the zone with the pitch, racking up a strike rate of 68%. Bostick complements the fastball with a pair of breaking balls that blend together and a changeup which shows solid drop and gives him an excellent weapon against lefthanders. To get the changeup to the next level, he needs to throw it with the same arm speed as his other pitches. One of Bostick’s goals going forward is to give his slider and curveball more separation from one another. He also needs to find the zone more often with all of his offspeeds—his changeup led the way in that department with a 61% strike rate. The Giants would also like to see him perform better when pitching out of the stretch and become more diligent holding runners.
The Future: Bostick has a solid mix of pitches and plenty of athleticism and room to grow. He’s got a lot of ceiling and projection remaining and could one day fit in the back of a rotation.

Argenis Cayama, RHP
Preseason Rank: 29
BA Grade/Risk: 45/Extreme
Track Record: Early in his amateur career, Cayama was an outfielder who wasn’t garnering much interest from professional clubs. Once he converted to the mound and started showing a low-90s fastball, things changed. He signed for $147,500 and was one of the more interesting prospects among the Giants’ two clubs in the Dominican Summer League. He dealt with a bout of pneumonia early in the season and had to work to regain his strength.
Scouting Report: From an athletic delivery, Cayama starts his mix with a low-90s sinking fastball with excellent armside run that peaked at 96 mph. He backs it with a low-80s gyro slider and a mid-80s changeup. The slider is a short-breaker with decent spin and the changeup shows late dive despite being thrown sparingly compared to his other two pitches. He has a confident mound demeanor, and scouts were heartened by his athleticism and the room for projection on his body. Cayama did a solid job pounding the strike zone and his background as a position player should help him repeat his delivery even if his body changes as he matures.
The Future: Cayama will move stateside in 2025 and is one of the Giants’ more up-arrow pitching prospects. He has the upside of a No. 5 starter and the fallback option of a fire-breathing reliever who can dominate the late innings.
