Reds Acquire Arnaldo Lantigua From Dodgers For International Pool Money

After nearly a month and a half, the Dodgers got their man when Japanese sensation Roki Sasaki announced on Instagram that he’d be joining Los Angeles. To do so, the Dodgers had to make a few moves to add money to their international pool.
One such transaction saw them flip outfielder Dylan Campbell to the Phillies. The latest involved the Reds, who acquired outfielder Arnaldo Lantigua for more pool space.

In his second year in the Dominican Summer League, Lantigua thrived. The 18-year-old finished the season with a .301/.430/.575 slash line with 11 home runs, which tied him with Twins prospect Eduardo Beltre for second in the league. Scouts in the DSL were mixed on Lantigua. The most optimistic believed he could one day be a fringe-average hitter with enough thump for 30 home runs. Those less settled on the same ceiling but with further to go to achieve those heights. Lantigua did a solid job controlling the zone and finished the year with a strikeout rate of 17.6%. He’s likely to land in right field, where his above-average arm strength would fit nicely.
