Pittsburgh prospect Shalin Polanco has one at-bat this spring. He’s also got one hit. That knock came on Wednesday against the Blue Jays, when Polanco entered as a pinch-runner for Jake Lamb. Facing Luis Quinones, the 20-year-old (who shares a birthday with Babe Ruth and Adley Rutschman) Polanco smacked a dribbler up the middle and beat the rap to first base. In the same game, Garret Forrester also went 1-for-1 and finished the day batting 1.000 in Grapefruit League action. The Oregon State alum, who went to Pittsburgh in the third round of the 2023 draft, pulled a 95 mph fastball from Blue Jays reliever Hagen Danner into left field. The hit registered an exit velocity of 104.4 mph.
