The Guardians announced on Tuesday that Travis Bazzana, the No. 1 overall pick from a year ago, was being placed on the injured list with an oblique strain. He suffered the injury on a swing on May 14. The subsequent MRI uncovered the strain. Bazzana will head to the team’s spring training complex in Goodyear, Ariz., to rehab. The release noted that similar injuries have required recovery times of 8-10 weeks. Before the injury, Bazzana was hitting .252/.362/.433 with four home runs at Double-A Akron.
