Royals Promote LHP Frank Mozzicato To Double-A
On the same day that Jac Caglianone was promoted to Triple-A, the Royals Double-A Northwest Arkansas affiliate is getting another of the team’s best prospects, as lefthander Frank Mozzicato, the team’s 2021 first-round pick, is being promoted to the Naturals. Mozzicato went 1-0, 1.24 in seven starts in his return to High-A Quad Cities. Mozzicato has shown improved velocity this year. He does nibble, and is walking 15.1% percent of batters this year. But he’s also avoided much hard contact. He’s holding hitters to a .124/.255/.207 slash line. Mozzicato has worked five or more innings in six of his seven starts and he’s allowed one or fewer runs in six of his seven starts.
