Padres center fielder Jackson Merrill has settled into being a very solid regular for the Padres. He’s hitting for average and getting on base, but at this early point in his big league career, he’s not hitting for much power. Merrill came into Monday with just two extra-base hits in his past 19 games. He went 2-for-3 on Monday with the longest home run he’s hit in the majors, a 397-foot seventh-inning shot that cut the Rockies’ lead to one run.
