The Braves No. 4 prospect Owen Murphy threw six and a third scoreless innings against Asheville on Tuesday, striking out 11. Murphy allowed just three hits and no walks, needing just 83 pitches to get into the seventh. Murphy has now made seven consecutive starts to begin the season where he’s gone five or more innings while allowing two or fewer earned runs. Murphy mixes a four-seam fastball in the low-90s with on average 19 inches of induced vertical break from a 5-foot-7 release height, a mid-80s slider with cut and a mid-70s two-plane curveball.
