Nationals Promote Daylen Lile To The Major Leagues
After an excellent start to the season split between Double-A and Triple-A the Nationals promoted outfielder Daylen Lile to the major leagues on Friday. Lile was hitting .337/.383/.509 with a 13.1% strikeout rate this season across 39 games at the minors’ two highest levels.
Lile was a second round pick out of Trinity HS (KY) in 2021 and signed for a bonus of $1.75 million. He missed his first full professional season in 2022 after he had Tommy John surgery, but Lile returned strong in 2023 posting a 125 wRC+ across both levels of A-Ball. Lile had another strong season in 2024 playing 57 games with High-A Wilmington before finishing the season with Double-A Harrisburg across 73 contests. Dating back to his high school days Lile has been lauded for his hitterish traits and his ability to find the barrel with consistency.
In 2025 Lile has shown improved underlying power metrics as he’s seen a nearly 3 mph jump on his 90th percentile exit velocity. With outfielders Dylan Crews and Jacob Young hitting the injured list over the last two days the Nationals have looked for reinforcements in the high minors, recalling Robert Hassell III on Wednesday before selecting Lile’s contract on Friday.
