Kyle Teel is headed to the South Side. The White Sox are calling up the No. 42 prospect in baseball, MassLive’s Chris Cotillo reported on Thursday. Teel was the centerpiece of the blockbuster deal that sent Garrett Crochet to Boston and Teel, Braden Montgomery, Chase Meidroth and Wikelman Gonzalez back to Chicago. Meidroth has already settled into a productive big league role. Now, the White Sox hope Teel can do the same. The 23-year-old wasted no time making a first impression, homering off Roki Sasaki in a spring training sim game—the first time the electric Japanese righty faced live hitters. Since then, Teel has kept the momentum going, slashing .295/.394/.492 with eight homers and 30 RBIs. He’ll now join a young and intriguing catching tandem in Chicago, sharing duties with fellow rising talent Edgar Quero.
