Jackson Merrill Set To Be Padres Center Fielder
As first reported by Jon Morosi, Jackson Merrill will be the Padres’ Opening Day center fielder. Merrill has been a standout for San Diego this spring. As he adapted to a new position, Merrill has hit .351/.400/.595. The Padres’ 2021 first-round pick will become the second high school first rounder from 2021 to make the majors. Jordan Lawlar reached the majors last fall.
