Jack Leiter’s First Outing Shows Improvement
Round Rock righthander Jack Leiter (Rangers) was generally dominant in his first outing of the season. Pitching in relief after Michael Lorenzen threw 2.2 innings. Leiter retired the first 13 batters he faced. He did give up a two-run home run to Joey Loperfido in his fifth inning of work, but he finished the game with nine strikeouts and no walks, having faced just two over the minimum in five innings. Leiter sat at 94-96 mph with his fastball, and relied heavily on his cutter.
