Triple-A Sacramento lefthander Carson Whisenhunt (Giants) came into Saturday’s game with a 6.52 ERA, but that didn’t fully explain the start to his season. He had an awful start at Reno, and followed that up by allowing seven runs in just 1.1 innings. Otherwise, he’d allowed two runs in his four other starts. Whisenhunt continued to bounce back on Sunday, throwing four scoreless innings against Tacoma while striking out 10 of the 17 batters he faced. Whisenhunt relied heavily on his changeup, picking up 11 whiffs with it.
