Padres catching prospect Ethan Salas will remain sidelined until July after a CT scan revealed a stress reaction in his back, general manager AJ Preller told reporters Monday night. Salas, who turns 19 on June 1, had not played in a game since April 17 while dealing with back spasms. It’s the latest setback in a rough start to the season for MLB’s No. 47 prospect, who hit just .188/.325/.219 through 10 games with Double-A San Antonio and is coming off a 2024 season where he posted just a .599 OPS with High-A Fort Wayne. Salas was one of seven prospects in our May Top 100 update facing concerns early on this season.
