Dodgers’ Kendall George Ties Midwest League Steals Record
High-A Great Lakes outfielder Kendall George tied a Midwest League record with six stolen bases on Sunday. George went 6-for-7 on steals, as part of a 2-for-3 day where he walked twice and scored twice.
George singled and stole second in the first, but was picked off for his lone caught stealing of the day. It was less than ideal timing as Josue De Paula then homered.
In the third, George walked, stole second and then scored on a Mike Sirota single. In the fifth he walked again and stole second and third, scoring on Sirota’s home run.
George wasn’t done, as he singled in the sixth and stole second and third, although he ended up stranded there. George’s chance to set the record by himself ended in the seventh when he grounded out in his final plate appearance.
George now has 19 steals in 24 attempts this year. He’s currently third in the Midwest League in stolen bases.
