It’s been a breakout season for D’backs righthander Yilber Diaz, and Monday was his best outing of the season. Diaz struck out 13 of the 20 batters he faced as he held Sacramento hitless for six scoreless innings. The only two batters to reach came on walks. Diaz finished off a pair of strikeouts with his slider and two more with his cutter, but nine came on his fastball. He consistently dominated the RiverCats with 96-97 mph heaters. Diaz now has a 1-3, 3.27 record in four starts since he was promoted to Triple-A Reno. Reno is viewed as one of the toughest environments in baseball for pitchers. The Aces have a 6.00 ERA and their opponents are little better at 5.76.
