The Astros chose Nebraska alum Brice Matthews in the first round of the 2023 draft and quickly got him to Low-A Fayetteville that summer. He’s moved up to High-A Asheville for his first full pro campaign, and on Wednesday he continued a torrid stretch. On June 1, he popped his first two home runs of the season. In doing so, he collected his first career multi-homer game. On Wednesday, he repeated the feat, popping a pair of longballs against Bowling Green. He now has as many home runs in 2024 as he did in 2023.
