For Braves pitching prospect JR Ritchie, his first full season back season from Tommy John surgery has gone as well as could be hoped. He drew the start for the National League at the Futures Game, throwing a scoreless inning and striking out of two of four batters faced. Now, Ritchie’s season continues at Triple-A Gwinnett following a promotion. He spent the first half pitching for High-A Rome and Double-A Columbus, posting a 2.35 ERA with 79 strikeouts and 27 walks in 80.1 innings. Ritchie ranks fifth in the full-season minors with a .171 opponent average and 10th with a 0.95 WHIP.
