Prospect Report: Gore Impresses Again
Tuesday's Top Performers
MacKenzie Gore, LHP, Padres: In both 2020 and 2021, Gore struggled with his delivery, struggled to throw strikes and struggled to maintain his stuff. This spring, he's looked like the pitcher who was once the top pitching prospect in baseball. He's touching 97 mph and even more importantly he's consistently showing solid command. Gore allowed his first runs of the spring and his first walk, but with four solid innings, he's making a case for a spot in the Padres rotation.
Joey Bart, C, Giants: Bart hit his second home run of the spring. He's had a solid two weeks, but the plate discipline concerns aren't entirely alleviated. He's yet to walk this spring while striking out five times in 12 plate appearances.
Bobby Witt Jr., 3B, Royals: Witt has made every possible argument to be the Royals' Opening Day third baseman. Witt went 2-for-3 on Tuesday and is now hitting .476/.522/.857. He has hits in seven of eight games and has handled all nine chances at third flawlessly.
