Nick Kurtz’s Topps MLB Debut Patch Headed To Auction

It has been less than a month since 2025 Topps Chrome Update was released, and one of the biggest chases in the product is already headed for the auction block–and could fetch into six-digit territory.

The Nick Kurtz 1/1 MLB Debut Patch, which was pulled just 36 hours into the product’s release, will be auctioned in Fanatics Collect’s January Premier auction starting on Thursday, Jan. 8 and running through Thursday, Jan. 22.

A representative at Fanatics Collect says the Marcelo Mayer Debut Patch will also be up for bids in the same auction.

Fanatics Collect’s Premier auctions are reserved for items they determine to be worth at least $15,000. The starting bid will be $1,000, and all bidders will need to be pre-approved.

And if recent sales are any indication, both patches, and especially Kurtz’s, will likely sell for a lot more than that. In March, the Paul Skenes Debut Patch sold for $1.1 million, and just last month, a Shohei Ohtani 1/1 Gold Logoman card sold for $3 million.

Other Debut Patches that have sold for big money include those of Jackson Holliday ($198,000), Wyatt Langford ($183,000) and Jackson Chourio ($105,000). Anthony Volpe’s 2023 Debut Patch earned a lucky collector a $150,000 bounty from retailer Dave & Adam’s.

“Nick Kurtz had a phenomenal rookie season and his Debut Patch should easily reach and pass $200,000,” said Thomas Fish, co-owner of Blowout Cards. “The unanimous Rookie of the Year winner has a bright future, and whatever it sells for may be a bargain if he continues to put up the numbers he did in 2025. Regardless, rookie debut patches have solidified their place as the hobby’s most desired rookie card.”

In a video posted by Topps of Kurtz signing his Debut Patch card, Kurtz was asked how much he thought the card might be worth.

“A couple of hundred bucks,” he joked.

Almost half of the 2025 Debut Patches have now been pulled, including Kurtz, Mayer, Dylan Crews and Ben Rice. The biggest names left on the board are Roki Sasaki, James Wood and Jacob Wilson.
