The third week of midweek games didn’t feature as many Top 25 upsets as the two before, nor did it include a perfect game like last week. Nonetheless, the slate produced some intriguing results and moments.

Here are 10 standout midweek moments and results:

How The Top 25 Fared

Top 25 teams’ performances in midweek games improved for the third week in a row despite more total contests played. Ranked squads went 29-5 in Week 4 midweek games. Two of those five defeats were in Top 25 showdowns (No. 21 Dallas Baptist beat No. 10 Oklahoma 11-0 and No. 22 Mississippi State beat No. 24 Southern Mississippi 18-3). No. 6 Florida, No. 11 Texas A&M and No. 13 Oklahoma State were responsible for the three midweek losses to unranked squads.

Here’s the complete breakdown of Top 25 performances:

Marek Houston Continues Impressive Start To Draft Season

Considering he entered play against Appalachian State with a .444 batting average, Wake Forest shortstop Marek Houston’s 1-for-4 showing on Tuesday night didn’t exactly jump off the page.

But Houston’s contact-oriented bat isn’t the only tool driving him up draft boards early in the season. The 6-foot-3 middle infielder’s carrying tool is his defense at the premier position, something he showed off against the Mountaineers.

In the second inning, Houston stole a hit with a slide and spin while ranging to his right.

Houston is Baseball America’s No. 20 prospect in the 2025 draft. He could continue to rise if he demonstrates improved pop while maintaining his impressive hitting and fielding abilities.

George Mason Scores Record 23 Runs In An Inning, Crushes Holy Cross

Considering the early-season batted ball profiles and run totals around the country throughout the first three weeks of the season, it felt like a matter of time before single-game or inning run records were toppled.

Turns out it took less than a month.

On Tuesday night against Holy Cross, George Mason claimed one of those all-time marks after it scored an NCAA-best 23 runs in the top of the third. How it unfolded only makes it more impressive.

The Patriots scored all of their runs with at least one out on the board and accomplished the feat without hitting a home run or triple in the inning. Holy Cross notably issued eight walks, hit five batters and committed three errors to help propel their opponent into the record books.

Duke’s Ben Miller Extends Home Run Streak

Duke entered the year ranked 10th but got off to one of the more disappointing–and surprising–starts in the country this season, falling out of the Top 25 within three full weeks. The Blue Devils are showing signs, though, of righting the ship. They’ve won their last four games, which is a well-timed development with ACC play beginning on Friday.

Third baseman Ben Miller is a driving force behind Duke’s recent success. He homered Tuesday in a 13-1 win over North Carolina A&T, extending his homer streak to five straight games.

A second-year Blue Devil after joining the program last year as a transfer from Penn, Miller is already more than halfway to his 2024 home run total (15) with eight in 13 games. He leads Duke in homers, RBIs (21) and slugging percentage (.769).

Aloy Continues To Lead The Charge For Arkansas

Arkansas shortstop Wehiwa Aloy ranks 21st in the 2025 draft class. So far he looks the part, batting .380 with three home runs and nine RBIs.

However, it’s his younger brother, Kuhio, who is at the center of the Razorbacks’ offense right now. The BYU transfer is slashing .556/.628/1.194 through 10 games along with a team-best six home runs and 26 RBIs and five doubles.

The younger Aloy went 5-for-9 with two home runs and 10 RBIs against Louisiana-Monroe in the midweeks. He enters the fourth weekend of the regular season as one of the hottest bats in the country.

Alabama Shortstop Justin Lebron Hitting At Historic Pace

Alabama shortstop Justin Lebron ranked as the top prospect in the 2026 draft in Tuesday’s update. Over the ensuing two days, the Crimson Tide infielder picked up a home run, triple and six RBIs over eight at-bats. He now has nine homers, 34 RBIs and just one more strikeout (11) than walks (10) so far this season.

Lebron has already developed a reputation as a fastball-killer, which has very much held true so far in 2025. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound shortstop owns a minuscule 9% miss rate on heaters. Lebron is on pace to obliterate Alabama’s single-season home run record of 28 set by Kent Matthes in 2009.

With Lebron’s bat guiding them, the Crimson Tide are a perfect 14-0 to start their season, marking their third-straight year with at least 10 consecutive victories to open a campaign.

Central Florida Earns Ranked Win, Continues Hot Start

Last year, Rich Wallace returned his alma mater to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017 in his first year atop the program. The Golden Knights appear well-positioned to make the tournament again in 2025, which would mark their first back-to-back trips since 2011-12.

UCF on Tuesday picked up a quality 13-3 midweek victory over No. 6 Florida in which it out-hit the Gators 13-7. Second baseman Edian Espinal continued his impressive start to the year with two hits, including a home run. He leads the Knights with a .519 batting average in 10 appearances.

The Knights have ample depth and talent around him and should compete for a spot in the top third of an expanded Big 12 conference.

No. 6 Florida Facing Injury Issues After Midweek Split

Florida couldn’t have mapped out a better start to the season, winning 11 consecutive games while allowing no more than four runs in a single contest. Even consecutive losses to Miami and UCF, which snapped the Gators’ perfect record, initially did little to dampen the positive outlook. But recent injuries stemming from those games have cast a much darker shadow.

Sophomore center fielder Kyle Jones is set to miss the remainder of the season due to a shoulder injury, second baseman Cade Kurland could miss anywhere from 10 days to several weeks, or even months, due to a shoulder ailment, junior lefty Pierce Coppola will miss his next turn in Florida’s rotation due to an upper body injury and several other contributors are suffering from more minor injuries.

The rash of ailments will test Florida’s depth, which includes several freshmen on both sides of the ball. It’s a daunting reality with SEC play, and a series against No. 1 Tennessee, looming.

UTSA Earns Standout Victory Over Texas A&M, Pushes Winning Streak to 11

A standalone midweek win for a mid-major over a ranked team is unlikely to carry much weight when the selection committee sets the field of 64, even if it’s a noteworthy achievement. However UTSA’s 7-4 midweek win over No. 11 Texas A&M could be a nice highlight in a budding, broader resume.

The Roadrunners’ victory over the Aggies extended their winning streak to 11 games and improved their overall record to 12-3.

UTSA is set to take on Texas Southern over the weekend and No. 21 Dallas Baptist next week, two opportunities to make a case for a potential ranking. The Roadrunners haven’t reached the NCAA Tournament since 2013.

Dallas Baptist Earns First Ranked Win Of 2025 Behind Chayton Krauss

No. 21 Dallas Baptist on Tuesday earned its first Top 25 win of the season when it annihilated No. 10 Oklahoma 11-0 in seven innings at home. The Patriots, who are 9-3 on the young season, were led by senior infielder Chayton Krauss who went 3-for-4 with two home runs, six RBIs and three runs scored.

Dallas Baptist catcher Jay Grant also put together a standout performance against Oklahoma with a home run and three runs scored. The power-hitting backstop moved into sole possession of second place on the Patriots’ career home run leaderboard. He needs just five more to break Austin Listi’s record of 53.
