Let’s round up select category leaders for the month of June in the major leagues and full-season minor leagues.
Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh hit his way into MVP consideration in June, batting .300/.398/.690 with MLB-leading totals for home runs (11-tie), RBIs (27-tie), extra-base hits (17) and total bases (69).
On the minor league side, many category leaders were older professionals taking advantage of favorable Triple-A hitting conditions. The one exception was young Mariners slugger Lazaro Montes, who cracked 10 home runs in June to tie for the monthly lead.
To qualify for rate categories, major league batters must have 3.1 plate appearances per team game. Minor leaguers require 2.7 PAs per team game.
