Minor League Transactions: Nov. 19

This installment collects all transactions involving minor League: players, i.e. those not on 40-man rosters, for the period Nov. 19 to Dec. 11. As always, transactions are conveyed by Major League: Baseball.

The abbreviation that follows player listings refer to minor League: level: Triple-A (AAA), Double-A (AA), High-A (A+), Low-A (A), Rookie-level Complex League: (R) or Dominican Summer League: (DSL).

Rule 5 draft basics:

• Major league phase: All players selected were on Triple-A reserve rosters. The drafting team pays a $100,000 Rule 5 fee to the original team and must keep the drafted player on its major league roster—or injured list—all season, or else risk losing him. If the drafting team opts not to carry the player, then he is placed on waivers. Any selecting team assumes Rule 5 restrictions. If the player clears waivers, he is offered back to his original club for $50,000. In the event of this transfer, the player receives credit for an outright assignment. A second outright triggers the right to free agency.

• Minor league phase: These players were drafted off rosters below the Triple-A level. The drafting team pays a fee of $24,500 to the player’s original organization. There are no strings attached in the minor league phase. The drafted player is not required to play for a particular affiliate or satisfy any other roster requirements.
