Marucci Launches Baseball Cleat Collection With BOA Fit System

Marucci’s entrance into the footwear category has a different lacing system than anyone else
hitting the field. The Baton Rouge-based brand introduced its MXB Collection of baseball- and
softball-specific footwear with three different products all featuring the BOA Fit System, a
unique laceless design popular in the outdoor industry.

The Dec. 13 launch of the brand’s footwear comes in three parts, with cleated options in the
MXB Metal BOA and MXB Molded BOA and an off-field shoe in the MXB Trainer BOA.

“When looking at the diamond footwear market, we saw a distinct opportunity to bring advanced
technology to the game—technology that prioritizes what our sport’s athlete require to own
every play, inning and moment,” said Kurt Ainsworth, co-founder and CEO of Marucci Sports.
“As a player-founded enterprise, we are committed to keeping the baseball and softball athlete at the center of everything we do.”

Marucci has spent the past three years working on the footwear entry, testing models with
athletes across a variety of levels. By working with the BOA Fit System, bringing it to the sport
for the first time, Marucci says the dual Li2 dials on the metal and molded cleats provide precise,
micro-adjustable tension at both the midfoot and forefoot, ensuring a secure locked-in fit to
enhance energy transfer and maximized performance efficiency.

The BOA Fit System replaces a traditional lacing system with interior cabling that features 49
strands of stainless steel all wrapped in nylon to provide a multi-directional fit. The lightweight
dial allows for micro-adjustments for what the brand calls a precision fit.

“Our focus is ensuring that diamond athletes have the most advanced and precise fit,” said Dan
Feeney, BOA’s vice president of partner product innovation and development, “allowing them
the ultimate power and control for every play.”

The bottom forefoot dial helps hold the food in place, while the top midfoot dial locks it in,
Marucci says. The personalized fit reduces in-shoe movement and makes it easy for players to
adjust tightness in the middle of a game or practice, such as if a player wants a tighter feel when
in the box and a bit looser when in the field.

Along with the BOA construction, the cleats include diamond-specific spike configurations
targeting stability and traction underneath a foam midsole and Ortholite insole. The brand’s PU-
coated upper on the cleats offers a stretch overlay meant to add to the support while deflecting
dirt and debris and covering the BOA dials in a streamlined look.

The dial on the trainer is BOA’s L6 version. The trainers features a mesh upper for breathability
and TPU skin for reinforcement. The rubber outsole pairs with a foam midsole and Ortholite
insole.

The BOA Fit System is guaranteed for the lifetime of the shoe.

Marucci Sports continues its push in baseball. The company owns both the Marucci and Victus
brands, the top two most-used bats in Major League Baseball, and has acquired Baum and Lizard Skins while expanding its presence in wood composite bats.
