How Many Topps MLB Debut Patches From 2023 Are Still Left To Be Found?

The 1/1 Topps Debut Patch might have been the biggest chase in the world of baseball cards in 2024. But when they made their debut just one year prior, they were just another chase.

One possible reason was the lack of marquee players. Anthony Volpe was the biggest name among the 2023 chases, meaning there was no one like Paul Skenes or Elly De La Cruz or Jackson Chourio on the checklist like there was in 2024. Perhaps it was the underwhelming design of the 2023 Topps Chrome series. Or maybe it was just the newness of it all.

Whatever the case, 2023 Topps Chrome Update doesn’t get nearly the love that 2024 Topps Chrome Update does. Nor does it sell for nearly as much. Breaker’s Delight boxes are available on the secondary market for $200 or less, compared to the $700 range for 2024 Delight boxes.

With the third-annual installment of the Pro Debut patches just around the corner, we thought we’d take a look at where the 2023 Debut Patch checklist stands, since there’s still ample product available and at not-terrible prices.

While this year’s Debut Patch checklist contains a whopping 270 names, the 2023 checklist included just 91 players. Based on Baseball America’s research, 80 of those 91 patches are confirmed as pulled, including the Volpe card, which earned one lucky collector a $150,000 bounty from retailer Dave & Adam’s.

Among the 11 patches that have not yet publicly surfaced, there are still some decent names, including Eury Perez and Grayson Rodriguez. But even the most run-of-the-mill Debut Patch is still a huge chase and worth a good amount of money.
