Every No. 1 MLB Prospect For All 30 Teams Since 1983

Baseball America began ranking the Top 10 Prospects in every organization for the 1983 season.
The 2026 edition of our Top 10s will be the 44th in a row that use the same criteria: Identify the minor league players and rookie-eligible big leaguers with the highest upside potential in each organization. We then arrange those players in an ordinal ranking, factoring both upside and the likelihood of reaching that potential.
Not counting the 2026 Top 10 Prospects rankings that are being published this fall, a total of 871 different players have worn the No. 1 prospect crown for an organization. Many of those players ranked No. 1 multiple times. In total, a No. 1 prospect has been designated 1,240 times.
Below, we present all players to ever rank as the BA No. 1 prospect in an organization, along with each player’s career FanGraphs WAR total through the 2025 season.
Here’s the key to the categories that follow each team’s chart of No. 1 prospects:
- Mount RushWAR: The top four career fWAR totals by a team’s No. 1 prospects. These are not necessarily the best prospects developed by each franchise. They are the most successful major leaguers, according to FanGraphs WAR, who once ranked No. 1 in the system.
- Three-timer club: The prospects who ranked No. 1 three times or more. Typically, these are marquee talents who signed as teenagers, often as first-round picks out of high school or as international amateurs.
- Finished 2025 in organization: Players who finished the 2025 season as members of the organization.
