For the first time this year, there is a new No. 1 in the Baseball America Top 25, powered by Louisville Slugger.

Louisville went 4-0 last week to improve to 15-0 this season and takes over the top spot in the rankings.

The Cardinals are the last undefeated team in the country and are off to their best start since 1957. This is their first-ever No. 1 ranking. Louisville’s previous best place in the Top 25 was No. 2, which it held in the first two rankings of 2016.

Texas Christian, which had been the top-ranked team this year since the Preseason Top 25, lost its first series of the year this weekend at UC Irvine and falls to No. 3. Florida State remains No. 2 and Oregon State and Florida round out the top five.

Two teams join the Top 25 this week. Florida Gulf Coast enters the rankings at No. 21 and Michigan joins at No. 24. Michigan was last in the rankings April 25, 2016. This is FGCU’s highest-ever ranking and its first time in the rankings since March 11, 2013, when it ranked No. 25.

Falling out of the Top 25 are Georgia Tech and North Carolina State. Both lost weekend series to open Atlantic Coast Conference play.

The ACC and Southeastern Conference both have five teams in the rankings, leading all conferences. The Big 12 Conference and Pacific-12 Conference follow with four representatives each.

The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records indicated are through March 12 and do not include ties.
