Despite no change at the top and no new additions to the list, there was notable movement across the Baseball America College Baseball Top 25 rankings after a busy Week 10.
Five teams—Texas, Oregon State, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt and West Virginia—turned in perfect weeks, while Georgia Tech stood alone as the only ranked team to go winless.

Texas continued to roll and notched a solid midweek win over UTRGV before an emphatic sweep of then-No. 7 Auburn. The Longhorns on Thursday trailed in the sixth inning, but scored a run in both the sixth and seventh innings to take the lead for good. There was little doubt about Friday and Saturday’s game, as they outscored the Tigers by a combined margin of 22-5. Kimble Schuessler led the charge offensively and blasted three home runs to go along with 10 RBIs, while seemingly every arm that was called upon turned in a quality appearance. The most valuable pitching performance of the weekend, though, belongs to Max Grubbs who in the series-opener spun 4.1 shutout innings in relief of Jared Spencer. Up next for Texas is an always-tricky midweek matchup at Texas State before a highly-anticipated series against a surging Texas A&M.

Clemson climbs to No. 2 after a hard-fought series win over No. 17 Louisville that included a pair of one-run victories. The Cardinals jumped ahead with a three-run first inning in Friday’s opener, but the Tigers responded, taking the lead in the seventh on a three-run homer by Jack Crighton that proved to be the game-winner. Clemson clinched the series Saturday behind a Jacob Jarrell solo homer and a Luke Gaffney RBI double, with Lucas Mahlstedt earning the save in both wins to push his season total to a nation-leading 14. Drew Titsworth added six shutout innings on Friday. Clemson now faces a challenging week with a top-10 midweek clash at No. 8 Georgia followed by a road series at NC State.

LSU bounced back from last weekend’s series loss at Auburn with a ranked series win over then-No. 21 Alabama. Tigers ace Kade Anderson didn’t have his best stuff on Thursday, but the offense—led by home runs from Ethan Frey, Steven Milam and Ashton Larson—exploded to score 10 unanswered runs between the sixth and eighth innings. There were less offensive fireworks in the middle game, but Anthony Eyanson collected 12 strikeouts and allowed just one run across six quality innings and star freshman Derek Curiel’s two-run single was the biggest individual swing of the day. LSU remains home—where it’s 25-2 this year—this week and takes on Northwestern State before a top-five showdown against No. 5 Tennessee.

Tennessee lost its second series in the last three weeks at the hands of Kentucky. The Volunteers handled the Wildcats 8-2 on Friday and appeared to be on their way to a series victory, though their offense scored just three total runs on nine hits across the final two games. Liam Doyle (7 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 9 K) and Marcus Phillips (5 IP, 6 H, 0 ER, 4 BB, 8 K) both turned in quality starts, though the Vols’ defensive miscues and lack of timely hitting proved to be too much to overcome. It’s easier said than done, but Tennessee will look to get back on track this week at home against Lipscomb and on the road at Alex Box Stadium.

Quality pitching was at a premium over the weekend, though it was an offensive explosion for the Beavers. Potential top-five overall pick Aiva Arquette went an impressive 9-for-13 with 11 RBIs, headlined by a 6-for-6, two-home-run performance in Saturday’s finale, while Gavin Turley went 7-for-14 with 11 RBIs of his own. Arkansas’ recent struggles continued as it dropped its second-straight series. The Razorbacks bounced back from their series-opening loss to Texas A&M with an impressive 11-5 win due in large part to a six-run fifth inning, though the Aggies took the second game of the doubleheader to secure the series. It was an uncharacteristically “off” weekend for the rotation, but Dylan Carter (4 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K) and Gabe Gaeckle (5.2 IP 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 K) combined to allow only one run across 9.2 total innings in relief. In Saturday’s win, Justin Thomas Jr. led the offense with a pair of long balls and three RBIs. Following a pair of games against Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas heads south for a tricky matchup against Florida.

Vanderbilt soars inside the top 10 for the first time this season after a 4-0 week that was headlined by an impressive sweep of then-No. 3 Georgia. In Tuesday’s midweek triumph over Lipscomb, the Commodores’ bullpen squandered a late-inning lead before Colin Barczi delivered a walk-off single. Southpaw JD Thompson turned in the best outing of his career on Thursday when he collected a career-high 14 strikeouts across eight innings of one-run ball. The Commodores on Friday—led by two home runs and seven RBIs from blue chip freshman Brodie Johnston—scored 13 runs on as many hits, while in Saturday’s finale Connor Fennell put the exclamation point on the weekend with 11 strikeouts in 5.2 strong innings. Daniel Jackson and Brennan Hudson both hit three-run home runs, while dynamic righthander Brian Curley spun a quality start to the tune of two runs across six innings. It blasted 11 home runs as a team—led by multi-homer efforts from Easton Carmichael, Sam Christiansen, Trey Gambill and Jason Walk—and received valuable contributions from every hitter in its starting nine. On the mound, Malachi Witherspoon twirled a quality start and allowed one run with eight strikeouts across five innings. After last weekend’s big-time series win over LSU, Auburn was handily swept in a letdown week at top-ranked Texas. The Tigers punched first in the series-opener thanks to an Ike Irish two-run home run, but that was the extent of their offense in an otherwise quiet weekend. Irish was the lone bright spot offensively, as he homered three times and accounted for all six of the team’s RBIs. UC Irvine took a big step forward in Week 10, sweeping fellow Big West contender Hawaii and claiming sole possession of first place in the conference with four weekends to play. Timely hitting played a role, but it was the Anteaters’ pitching that stole the show. Riley Kelly, Max Martin and Ricky Ojeda combined to allow just one run over nine innings Friday, and Trevor Hansen and Ryder Brooks made history by becoming just the third duo in program history to throw back-to-back complete game shutouts, each racking up 10 strikeouts. UC Irvine has firmly placed itself among the nation’s top mid-majors and now finds itself on the edge of regional hosting territory—though major tests against No. 18 UCLA and Cal Poly loom.

West Virginia stretched its win streak to 14 games after a sweep of Cincinnati and midweek victory over Marshall. While the Mountaineers’ No. 134 strength of schedule raises questions about their ceiling, they’ve unquestionably dominated the slate they chose. Catcher Logan Sauve powered the offense with two home runs and a double over the weekend, while outfielder Jace Rinehart chipped in a homer and a double of his own. On the mound, Jack Kartsonas helped close the series with six scoreless innings and seven strikeouts. Gavin Schrader powered the offense with a double and homer across the two wins, while Sean Darnell added a pair of doubles. On the mound, Noah Edders was dominant in Game 2, striking out nine over seven innings of one-run ball. The formula remains simple for Troy: take care of business, keep climbing. It will look to do that this week with a midweek at Alabama State and weekend series at home against Texas State, a team with somewhat distant but still motivating postseason odds.

Western Kentucky didn’t have its sharpest week, dropping a ranked midweek matchup against then-No. 17 Louisville and settling for a series win over a struggling Middle Tennessee squad. But thanks to quality wins and movement around them, the Hilltoppers still climb in the rankings. Kyle Hayes posted a phenomenal week at the plate, mashing three home runs, a triple and two doubles across the four-game stretch. The Hilltoppers remain tied atop Conference USA with a surging Dallas Baptist, which has won nine straight since losing two of three to WKU in Week 8, and will look to create some breathing room this week with a forgiving slate on deck: a home midweek against Evansville and weekend set at Florida International.

After weeks of surging into the heart of the Top 25, UCLA finally hit turbulence in WEek 10, losing three of four games–all against ranked opponents. The Bruins were overwhelmed by then-No. 9 Oregon State in a midweek clash and couldn’t fully recover, dropping a road weekend series at then-No. 25 Oregon despite a 14-4 run-rule win on Saturday. While the week dented UCLA’s standing in the human polls, it actually helped bolster its postseason resume, jumping three spots to No. 17 in RPI, a key development for their hosting hopes. Despite the series loss, UCLA has the edge over Oregon in overall record, conference record, RPI and strength of schedule, and trails only Iowa in the Big Ten race. Louisville is stuck in a bit of a rut, dropping another weekend series—this time on the road at then-No. 6 Clemson—and continuing a trend of inconsistent play against high-end competition. The Cardinals did salvage a couple of important wins, beating then-No. 20 Western Kentucky in the midweek and pulling out a gritty 12-inning victory over Clemson to avoid a sweep, but the margin for error is getting thinner. If Louisville wants to stay in the hosting conversation and inside the Top 25, it’ll need much more from its top-end contributors, especially ace Patrick Forbes, who owns a 7.25 ERA in 22.1 innings against ACC teams. A tricky road trip to Kentucky followed by a home showdown with No. 10 Florida State could either stabilize—or further complicate—their postseason outlook.

Alabama couldn’t quite capitalize on a golden opportunity at then-No. 8 LSU, but a 2–2 week on the road against elite competition is far from disastrous. Despite dropping their weekend series, the Crimson Tide actually improved to No. 9 in RPI, buoyed by a rugged No. 12 strength of schedule. Still, the trend isn’t ideal. Alabama has now lost four of its last five weekend series, including three straight. Fortunately, a perfectly timed get-right stretch awaits with a midweek trip to Samford followed by a home series against winless-in-league Missouri. Anything less than a sweep this weekend would be a missed opportunity and could stand to knock Alabama out of the Top 25.

Georgia Tech’s Week 10 collapse was as steep as any in the country, turning a promising surge into a full-on backslide. After climbing to No. 13 nationally, the Yellow Jackets went 0-4, losing to then-No. 3 Georgia at Truist Park before being swept by unranked Miami in Coral Gables. The damage was significant—Tech plummeted 12 spots in the Top 25 and 14 spots to No. 27 in RPI, falling out of the hosting conversation it was firmly part of just a week ago. The road back won’t be easy, but the Yellow Jackets have chances to recover quickly with a crucial midweek test at No. 12 Auburn and weekend series against an unranked but still-dangerous Virginia squad.
