Andy Pages, RF, High-A Great Lakes (Dodgers): Pages came into Friday needing four home runs in the final nine games of the season to finish with 30 home runs. He finished the task ahead of schedule, homering once on Friday, again on Saturday and twice on Sunday. His first on Sunday was 464 feet. His second was a three-run shot that drove the Great Lake Loons comeback for a 10-7 win.

Jordan Walker, 3B, High-A Peoria (Cardinals): Walker homered twice on Sunday for his 12th and 13th of the season. It also helped him drive his batting average at High-A Peoria to .300. Overall, Walker is now hitting .324/.396/.549 this season. The first pro season for the Cardinals’ 2020 first-round pick has been exceptional.

Curtis Mead, 3B, Triple-A Durham (Rays): Just called up from High-A, Mead went 3-for-4 with two doubles for the Triple-A Durham Bulls on Sunday. Overall between three stops, Mead is now hitting .321/.378/.524.

Luis Matos, RF, Low-A San Jose (Giants): Matos went 4-for-4 with a double and a home run on Sunday after going 3-for-4 with a double and a home run on Saturday and after going 2-for-4 with two singles on Friday. He’s now hitting .311/.353/.487 with 32 doubles, one triple and 14 home runs this year. He has a solid shot of topping 50 extra base hits in his first full season of pro ball.

Owen White, RHP, Low-A Down East (Rangers): White’s final few starts of the year are going to leave him wishing the season could stretch a little longer. He struck out 10 Low-A Carolina hitters on Sunday as he went six innings, allowing seven hits and two earned runs while walking no one. That follows up his 12 strikeouts in five innings in his previous start.

Jay Groome, LHP, Double-A Portland (Red Sox:) Groome’s late-season promotion to Double-A Portland is proving to be the perfect way to change the perception of his 2021 season. Groome’s work at High-A Greenville was a little better than his 5.29 ERA indicates--he struck out 108 and walked 32 in 81.2 innings and posted a 4.37 FIP, but nothing in that effort indicated the dominance once expected from the 2016 first-round pick. His first two starts for Double-A Portland? Well that’s a different story. Groome held Binghamton to two hits in six scoreless innings, allowing one walk while striking out nine. Groome has not allowed a run in 11 innings since his promotion while posting a 19-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. It’s the best back-to-back starts of his pro career.

Khalil Lee, CF, Triple-A Syracuse (Mets): Lee went 3-for-4 with two home runs on Sunday. Lee has always had the ability to get on base, now his power is starting to catch up to his on-base skills. His 11 home runs for Syracuse is the second most of his career and his .473 slugging percentage is 55 points better than his career slugging percentage of .418.

Alexander Canario, CF, High-A South Bend (Cubs): Canario doubled and homered on Sunday for High-A South Bend. Canario has shown his power since coming over to the Cubs at the trade deadline--that was his eighth home run in 36 games with South Bend. He needs to improve his selectivity--he has a .284 on-base percentage to go with his .444 slugging percentage since the trade.

Carlos Perez, C, Double-A Birmingham (White Sox): Coming into this season, Perez had hit seven career home runs in six minor league seasons. The 25-year-old catcher had hit for solid average, but power had never been part of his game. On Sunday, Perez hit two home runs for Double-A Birmingham, giving him four this month. Coming into this year he’d never hit more than three in a season. This year he now has 13 home runs in 103 games, offering another reminder that power develops later for some players.

In Case You Missed It

On Saturday, Double-A Somerset RHP Hayden Wesneski (Yankees) struck out 14 in seven innings, allowing only one hit and one run on a solo home run. He walked no one . . . Triple-A Durham RHP Shane Baz (Rays) struck out 10 and walked one in six innings . . . High-A Lake County RHP Daniel Espino (Indians) fanned 10 hitters in 5.2 innings while allowing one hit (a solo home run) . . . Double-A San Antonio LHP MacKenzie Gore (Padres) pitched five solid innings for one of his best outings of a very disappointing season. He was left out there to start the sixth and walked three straight batters before being pulled, dinging his final line (5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 5 BB, 8 SO) . . . Amarillo 3B Buddy Kennedy (D-Backs) homered twice and doubled as part of a 5-for-5 day . . . Toledo CF Daz Cameron (Tigers) homered twice. He’s now hitting .302/.364/.517 for Toledo . . . Low-A Carolina 1B Alex Binelas (Brewers) continued his excellent pro debut with a 4-for-5 day with two home runs. He’s now hitting .348/.413/.652.

On Friday, Triple-A Durham RHP Tommy Romero (Rays) shut out Norfolk for 7.2 innings allowing two hits and one walk while striking out 13 . . . Double-A Mississippi RHP Freddy Tarnok (Braves) allowed one hit and one walk in 6.1 scoreless innings. He struck out eight. Double-A Arkansas OF Julio Rodriguez (Mariners) went 4-for-5 with two home runs and a walk . . . High-A Cedar Rapids 1B Aaron Sabato (Twins) odd season continued to be odd. He homered twice, giving him 16 between Cedar Rapids and Low-A Fort Myers. The bad news is he’s hitting .195 overall . . . Cedar Rapids C Alex Isola (Twins) had his first two home run game of the season, giving him 17 home runs overall.
