Arizona Diamondbacks
—Top prospect Daulton Varsho drove in his third run in the last four games and added a single in three at-bats in the team’s win over the Angels.
Baltimore Orioles
—Keegan Akin put together a stellar start against the Braves to earn his first big league win. Baltimore’s No. 11 prospect struck out nine Atlanta hitters over five innings, marking a career best in whiffs. All told, he’s struck out 25 in 18.2 innings in his debut season.
—Righty Hunter Harvey threw a scoreless seventh inning, working around a hit. He threw 13 pitches, nine of which were strikes.
Chicago Cubs
—Nico Hoerner collected his fourth double in the team’s win over the Indians. The 23-year-old second baseman went 1-for-2 before getting lifted for a pinch hitter in the ninth inning.
Cleveland Indians
—James Karinchak bounced back from a rough performance on Tuesday to strike out two and walk one in a scoreless inning against the Cubs. The 24-year-old righty is 0-2, 2.66 with 45 strikeouts and 14 walks in 23.2 innings.
Cincinnati Reds
—Jose Garcia collected a hit in three at-bats and scored once in the team’s shutout win over the Pirates. The 22-year-old shortstop has collected a hit in four of the last five games to raise his average to .211 in 57 at-bats.
Detroit Tigers
—No. 4 prospect Tarik Skubal pitched well, but took the loss against the Royals. The 23-year-old lefthander struck out eight and allowed four hits in six innings of three-run (two earned) ball. Skubal struck out 25 and walked eight in 23.1 innings, pitching to a 6.17 ERA.
Kansas City Royals
—Brady Singer turned in his second consecutive outstanding outing, striking out eight batters in six scoreless innings while allowing two hits and a walk. The 24-year-old righthander relied on his four-seamer and slider for all 81 pitches, inducing 13 swings and misses. Singer moved to 3-4, 4.14 with 52 strikeouts and 18 walks in 54.1 innings.
Los Angeles Angels
—Jared Walsh continued his hot streak of late, hitting his sixth home run in seven games in the team’s loss to the Diamondbacks. The 27-year-old has 19 hits in 45 at-bats in September to go along with seven home runs and 17 RBIs.
Los Angeles Dodgers
—No. 3 prospect Brusdar Graterol allowed a run on a hit and a walk in 1.1 innings and struck out one in the team’s win over the Padres. The hard-throwing 22-year-old righty is 0-2, 3.32 with 12 strikeouts and three walks in 19 innings.
—Dustin May struck out six batters in 5.1 innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk. The 23-year-old righthander has struck out 34 and walked 11 in 47 innings.
Miami Marlins
—No. 7 prospect Monte Harrison went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in his team’s win over the Red Sox. Harrison has had a bit of a tough season, hitting .146 with a .466 OPS through 41 at-bats.
—Lefty Trevor Rogers allowed one run over three innings while allowing three hits and walking a pair. He struck out three as well, but threw 75 pitches before handing the ball to Josh Smith for the fourth inning. The 22-year-old Rogers has struck out 29 in 21 innings this year. The 22-year-old ranks as the Marlins’ No. 11 prospect.
New York Mets
—Infielder Andres Gimenez came up clutch against the Phillies when he smacked the go-ahead single off of Hector Neris. Gimenez is now 29 for his first 102 with a pair of home runs, 11 RBIs and seven stolen bases.
Philadelphia Phillies
—Mickey Moniak, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 draft, made his big league debut as a pinch-runner in the Phillies’ late-inning loss to the Mets. He did not get a plate appearance.
Pittsburgh Pirates
—No. 21 prospect JT Brubaker pitched five or more innings for the fourth consecutive start, striking out four batters, allowing a run on five hits and a walk in 5.1 innings. The 26-year-old righthander has pitched to a 1-2, 4.79 mark with 36 strikeouts and 14 walks in 35.2 innings.
San Diego Padres
—No. 7 prospect Adrian Morejon made his sixth appearance in the team’s loss to the Dodgers, striking out three batters and allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits in two innings. Morejon has pitched just 12.2 innings but has struck out 17 batters compared to just two walks.
Seattle Mariners
—Kyle Lewis collected two hits in five at-bats in the team’s loss to the Giants. The 25-year-old outfielder is hitting .298 in 171 at-bats.
Texas Rangers
—No. 3 prospect Leody Taveras collected two hits in four at-bats in the team’s win over the Astros. The 22-year-old outfielder reached base on an infield single in the ninth inning, then scored the go-ahead run on a ground-rule double three batters later.
Toronto Blue Jays
—Righthander Hector Perez, part of the package Toronto received from the Astros for Roberto Osuna, made his big league debut. Pitching in the later innings of a blowout, Perez allowed two runs (both earned) on three hits and three walks. He recorded his first career strikeout when he got Aaron Hicks to swing through a 97 mph fastball.
Washington Nationals
—No. 2 prospect Luis Garcia closed his team’s win over the Rays in style, swatting a game-winning home run in the 10th inning off of Tampa Bay closer Nick Anderson. Significantly, the home run was the first earned run on Anderson’s ledger in 13 innings this season. It was the second homer of Garcia’s career, and left the bat at 105.4 mph.
—No. 1 prospect Carter Kieboom went 1-for-4 with a run scored in the win. It was his third straight game with a hit, a stretch in which he’s gone 4-for-11.
