Baseball America Prospect Report—April 14, 2021

Baltimore Orioles

—No. 5 prospect Ryan Mountcastle tallied three hits in six at-bats in the team’s doubleheader against the Mariners, doubling twice, driving in a run, scoring once and stealing a base. The 23-year-old has collected a hit in five straight games after struggling to start the season.

Boston Red Sox

—No. 3 prospect Bobby Dalbec crushed two doubles and drove in two runs in the team’s win over the Twins. The 25-year-old first baseman’s first two-bagger left the bat at 105.6 mph and tied the game, and the second reached 111.3 mph and put the Red Sox ahead. After an impressive spring training stint, Dalbec has cooled off to start the year, with a .179/.258/.286 slash line and three RBIs.

 

 

 

Chicago White Sox

—No. 4 prospect Garrett Crochet picked up his second loss of the season against the Indians, allowing two hits and two unearned runs after committing a throwing error to put runners on first and third in the top of the 10th inning. The 21-year-old lefthander averaged 96.6 mph on his fastball, getting two swings and misses on the heater.

Detroit Tigers

—No. 14 prospect Akil Baddoo homered for the second consecutive game and finished with two hits in the team’s win over the Astros. The 22-year-old outfielder is hitting .391/.400/1.043 with four home runs and 10 RBIs in 23 at-bats this season.

 

Oakland Athletics

—No. 29 prospect Seth Brown unloaded on his second career home run, sending the ball 422 feet to right-center field. The 28-year-old outfielder/first baseman is 3-for-18 with two home runs and two RBIs. 

 

 

 

St. Louis Cardinals

—No. 1 prospect Dylan Carlson collected his first multi-hit game of the season with three hits in four at-bats in the team’s win over the Nationals. The 22-year-old outfielder scored twice and raised his slash line to .243/.341/.514 with three home runs and nine RBIs in 37 at-bats.

—No. 15 prospect Justin Williams had a career day, collecting his first three RBIs as a big leaguer, singling twice and scoring once. The 25-year-old outfielder has a hit in each of his last three games after starting the season 1-for-17.

Tampa Bay Rays

—No. 2 prospect Randy Arozarena continued his strong start to the season with his third multi-hit game. The 26-year-old outfielder, who singled twice and scored twice, has a hit in nine of his first 10 games and is hitting .317/.378/.488 in 41 at-bats.
