One month into the 2025 MiLB season, the Athletics, Royals and Marlins stand at the top of MiLB organizational standings.
The A’s lead all organizations with a 68-48 combined record across their five MiLB teams whose seasons have begun. The A’s also have the best run differential in the minors with a combined +112 mark.
It’s quite the turnaround. The last time the Athletics posted a composite winning record across all of their MiLB teams came back in 2018. Just last year, the A’s finished 25th out of the 30 organizations with a .466 winning percentage. The A’s ranked 28th in 2023 and dead last in 2022.
The jumps for the Royals and Marlins aren’t as dramatic, as both were middle of the pack last year, with the Marlins finishing 12th and the Royals 14th. Kansas City had finished 29th in org standings in 2022 and 24th in 2023.
Fourth place is held by the Dodgers, a team that is almost always near the top of these standings. The Dodgers last finished with a losing MiLB record way back in 2014. Milwaukee, fifth in org standings, has the second best run differential at +105.
At the other end of the spectrum, the Orioles have the worst record in the minors, with the nearby Nationals right ahead of them. They are the only two organizations winning fewer than 40% of their MiLB games. The Nationals have by far the worst run differential in the minors at -169, while the Angels are 29th at -114.
The Nationals and Orioles do not have a MiLB team with a winning record between them. The Nationals have a .500 team (Low-A Fredericksburg) and Double-A Harrisburg is one game under .500. Triple-A Rochester (8-24, .250) is the worst in the full-season minors, and its -92 run differential is also the worst in the minors. High-A Wilmington (9-18, .333) is tied for the worst record in the South Atlantic League.
Low-A Delmarva at 7-20 (.259) is the second worst team in the full-season minors so far. Double-A Chesapeake (13-14, .481) is the Orioles’ closest team to .500, while High-A Aberdeen and Triple-A Norfolk are both well under .500.
The Pirates’ High-A Greensboro club (19-8, .704) and the Dodgers’ Low-A Rancho Cucamonga club (19-8, .704) are tied for the best record in the minors.
