Arizona Fall League Prospect Report — October 22, 2021

Austin Wells, C, Yankees — After one of the better seasons by a catcher in the minor leagues, Wells has taken his offensive show to the desert. The Yankees' 2020 first-rounder followed Monday's four-hit effort with three more hits on Thursday, including a double and his first home run of the fall. The hot stretch propelled him to the AFL lead in both batting average (.500) and slugging percentage (.944) and tied him with Spencer Torkelson for the league's most hits, with nine.

Ezequiel Duran, SS, Rangers — The Saguaros went wild on Thursday, with 17 runs on 14 hits in a win over Scottsdale. Duran, who came from the Yankees to the Rangers in the Joey Gallo trade, was at the forefront. The sweet-swinging infielder clubbed three hits, including a pair of doubles and a home run as part of a 3-for-5 night with three runs and five RBIs. Duran has bounced around the dirt during his time in the AFL, but his offensive skills should play no matter where he winds up.

Owen White, RHP, Rangers — White's second start wasn't as stellar as his first, but the 23-year-old righty continued to make up for all the time he lost by putting together another five-inning outing. This time he allowed a pair of runs (both earned) while striking out four and walking one. His hiccup came in the second inning, when he allowed a pair of runs—including one on a home run to Cleveland prospect Richie Palacios. His 10 innings are the most in the AFL, and his 0.80 WHIP and .147 batting average against are each the best on the circuit.

Landon Knack, RHP, Dodgers — Los Angeles' second-rounder from the 2020 draft had a bit of an uneven outing in his second AFL start. The righthander whiffed six and walked nobody but still allowed three runs (all earned) over 2.2 innings. He distributed his strikeouts among all of his pitches, including three on four-seam fastballs, two on curves and one on a changeup. He also rung up some of Salt River's most feared hitters, including two Ks of Mets prospect and early-season standout Brett Baty and one of Milwaukee masher Joey Wiemer.

Today's starters:
Jackson Rutledge (Nationals, Surprise) vs. Coleman Crow (Angels, Glendale)
Michael Dominguez (Blue Jays, Mesa) vs. Abner Uribe (Brewers, Salt River)
Hans Crouse (Phillies, Peoria) vs. Caleb Sampen (Rays, Scottsdale)
