Arizona Fall League Prospect Report — October 2, 2019

Anthony Castro, RHP, Tigers. Castro was on point for Mesa as the righthander fired four scoreless innings. He needed 66 pitches to make his way through four frames in which he allowed two walks and a hit while striking out four batters. Castro suppressed contact better this year in his second go-around against Eastern League competition, but walks have continued to bite him. It’s a trend that has continued in the Arizona Fall League, as the righthander has walked five batters in 9 1/3 innings pitched.

Oneil Cruz, SS, Pirates. Cruz had two base knocks in two at-bats for Peoria. The infielder also came around to score once. It’s a step in the right direction for Cruz, who had struck out exactly half of his first 28 at-bats in the Arizona Fall League.

Ashton Goudeau, RHP, Rockies. Goudeau worked two innings in relief for Salt River. The 27-year old righthander allowed one hit while striking out three batters. Goudeau worked out of the rotation this season for Double-A Hartford before sustaining a hand injury. His mid-90s fastball and quality curveball should play up in shorter stints out of the bullpen.
