2025 Boston Red Sox Top 30 Prospects June Update

The top farm system in the game graduated only two players off its top 30 list in Kristian Campbell and Carlos Narvaez, but several players on the preseason list have already contributed in 2025. Marcelo Mayer, Hunter Dobbins and Richard Fitts all provided the team depth over the first two months. While the Red Sox season has been disappointing to date, there’s more in the tank. MLB’s top prospect Roman Anthony is waiting in the wings and primed to immediately provide impact hitting.
The story of the lower levels has been the Red Sox increasingly impressive cache of pitching prospects. Payton Tolle, Brandon Clarke and Connelly Early lead a group of talented hurlers. All throughout the Red Sox system their rotations are littered with talented arms capable of filling major league roles in due time. This is a historical role reversal for the Red Sox, an organization not known for its pitching talent or development success.

Graduates
Kristian Campbell, 2B: Baseball America’s 2024 Minor League Player of the Year opened the season scorching hot as the Red Sox everyday second baseman. The tide turned in May and Campbell has struggled.
Carlos Narvaez, C: Acquired from the Yankees for righthander Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz, Narvaez has supplanted Connor Wong as Boston’s everyday catcher. In a surprise, Narvaez–not Campbell or Marcelo Mayer–has been the best Red Sox rookie so far in 2025.
Risers
Payton Tolle, LHP: Tolle’s the leader of a talented group of young Red Sox lefthanders. He has dominated competition on the quality of his fastball, his outlier extension and improving secondaries.
Jhostynxon Garcia, OF: The Red Sox promoted Garcia to Triple-A Worcester after 33 impressive games with Double-A Portland. He has handled the challenge of the upper minors with ease and has displayed improved plate skills in 2025. Nicknamed ‘The Password,’ Garcia also had the honor of being the answer to a question on a recent episode of Jeopardy.
Hunter Dobbins, RHP: The righthander has served as an emergency option for the Red Sox early in 2025 and has established himself as a potential rotation option for years to come.
Fallers
Yoeilin Cespedes, 2B/3B: After dominating both Rookie ball levels over the last two seasons, Cespedes has struggled in Low-A. He doesn’t provide the same defensive value or upside compared to hitters ranked ahead of him in the Red Sox system.
Miguel Bleis, OF: If you see Bleis on the right day you’ll have visions of a future superstar. In his second taste of High-A Bleis has been better, though others in the Red Sox system have passed him.
Allan Castro, OF: Once lauded for his all-around game, Castro has not impressed evaluators in 2025 and looks like he’s headed in the wrong direction.
Injuries
Luis Perales, RHP: Perales is recovering from June 2024 Tommy John surgery. He’s likely to return late in the season, and is a candidate to pitch in the Arizona Fall League after the season.
Juan Valera, RHP: One of the most touted pitching prospects in the Red Sox system in years, Valera handled a difficult assignment to High-A Greenville as well as could be expected. He hit the injured list on May 27th with right elbow inflammation.
Conrad Cason, RHP/SS: Cason made one appearance in the Florida Complex League on May 3 and has been on the shelf since with fatigue. He’s currently not throwing but has begun hitting, as he continues on as a two-way player.
Brandon Clarke, LHP: Will miss a few starts due to a blister caused by a nail issue. The injury is considered to be very minor.
New Additions
Brandon Clarke, LHP: Over the first month of the season, Clarke took the lower minors by storm with a fastball that touches triple digits and an easy plus slider. Still building up his workload, Clarke has the type of stuff where he could develop into a midrotation starter or better in due time.
Justin Gonzales, 1B/OF: The Red Sox promoted the slugging Gonzales to Low-A Salem after just one game in the Florida Complex League. He’s impressed showing solid plate skills as well as exit velocity data that hints at his plus power tool.
Blaze Jordan, 1B/3B: Drastically improved swing decisions have led to a resurgent Jordan, who finally earned a promotion to Triple-A to begin June. Jordan could be an answer for the Red Sox woes at first base at some point this summer.
Zach Ehrhard, OF: Ehrhard is a solid all-around player whose profile would be bolstered by added power. For now, he looks like he could develop into a solid second-division regular.
Hayden Mullins, LHP: Mullins is showing more starter traits in 2025 but likely ends up in a relief role long term, where his fastball and slider combination will play.
