2021 Toronto Blue Jays Instructional League Roster

The Blue Jays’ instructional league roster is rich with young, talented position players, including one of the biggest on-base threats in the minor leagues. Middle infielder Leonardo Jimenez finished the year with an on-base percentage of .523 between stops at the Rookie-level Florida Complex League and Low-A Dunedin. Even if he was limited to just 262 plate appearances, that’s still mighty impressive.

He’s joined in Dunedin by 18-year-old infielders Rikelbin De Castro and Peniel Brito, who each put up on-base percentages north of .370 in the FCL. Outfielder Yhoangel Aponte, who signed in January, is also in camp. The 17-year-old notched 12 extra-base hits in his first test as a pro, in the Dominican Summer League, and got on base at a .393 clip.

Among the pitchers, keep an eye on 18-year-old righthander Sergio Caruci, who struck out 57 hitters in 48 innings in the DSL while walking just seven.
