2017 State Draft Report: Indiana
CROP RATING | |
Not up to par | |
Rating compares this year’s group to what a state typically produces, not to other states |
The state of Indiana produced two first-round picks in 2013, 2014 and 2015. This year will not come close to matching that production although Notre Dame does have a number of draftable pitchers.

Craig Dedelow, OF, Indiana
A 34th-round pick of the Pirates last year, Dedelow returned to Indiana for his senior season and traded batting average for power. His .254 batting average was the first time he’d hit under .300 since his freshman year, but he also hit 17 home runs after hitting 12 in the previous three years. He’s an athletic outfielder who plays a solid center field with average run times.
Chris Mangus, 1B, Indiana South Bend
Mangus ranked third in NAIA in slugging percentage (.872) as he finished his senior season with 20 home runs. He has legitimate power potential, but is as a 6-foot first baseman.
