2017 Preseason College Top 25

SEE ALSO: College Preview Index

With 22 lettermen returning from a team that advanced to the College World Series for the third year in a row, Texas Christian opens the 2017 season ranked No. 1 in Baseball America’s Preseason Top 25 college baseball rankings.

It is the first time the Horned Frogs have ever topped the rankings and the eighth straight season they are ranked in the Preseason Top 25. Previously, TCU’s best ranking was No. 3, which they most recently achieved in 2016’s final Top 25.

TCU is the first Big 12 Conference team to begin the season ranked No. 1 since Texas topped the preseason rankings in 2010. A team from either the Atlantic Coast Conference or Southeastern Conference entered the season ranked No. 1 every year from 2011-2016.

Seven teams from the ACC open the season in the Top 25, the most of any conference. Florida State leads the way at No. 2, with Louisville (No. 7) and Clemson (No. 10) also in the Top 10.

The SEC has three of the top five teams. Florida, last year’s Preseason No. 1, enters the season at No. 3 and is closely followed by Louisiana State (No. 4) and South Carolina (No. 5).

Coastal Carolina, the 2016 national champion, opens the season ranked No. 15. Arizona, last season’s national runner-up, enters the year at No. 22.
