2016 State Draft Report: Tennessee

CROP RATING
updated_state_rating_four_starBanner year
Rating compares this year's group to what a state typically produces, not to other states
Tennessee's 2013 high school class may go down in history as one of the better classes any state has ever had. 2013 Tennessee prep graduates include Nick Senzel, Jordan Sheffield, Bryan Reynolds, Will Craig and Dakota Hudson, among others. That class has had a significant impact on college baseball, and now the whole group is draft-eligible once again. The Volunteer State has arguably the best college hitter in this year's class in Senzel, one of the safest players in the class in Reynolds, and one of the most electric college arms in Sheffield. While there is no high school player that's likely to be taken in the first round, there is a healthy collection of projectable prep arms, and two solid athletes in Duncan Pence and Trevyne Carter. The 2015 Tennessee class was exceptional, with Dansby Swanson going first overall and his Vanderbilt teammates Walker Buehler and Carson Fulmer going in the first round as well.
