2016 State Draft Report: Kentucky

CROP RATING
updated_state_rating_five_star One for the books
Rating compares this year’s group to what a state typically produces, not to other states

Players drafted in 2015: 18.

Scouts had to sit on Louisville very intently as almost everyone in the lineup is a prominent draft prospect.

Five different Cardinals rank in the Top 100 of the BA500 and another two crack the Top 200. It’s a great year for Louisville, which makes it a great year for the state as a whole.

ADDITIONAL SCOUTING REPORTS

Lincoln Henzman, rhp, Louisville – Henzman has bounced back nicely from high school Tommy John surgery. He sets up hitters with a 90-92 mph fastball and finishes them off with a splitter. It’s an effective one-two punch–he struck out 27 and walked six in 24 innings. He is a draft-eligible sophomore, and will turn 21 in July.

Logan Taylor, of, Louisville – Taylor is the reason Corey Ray has primarily played left or right field during his time at Louisville. Taylor is a plus runner and solid center fielder although his bat limits him to a fourth-outfielder profile in pro ball.

Edgar Lebron, of, Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College – Lebron is a plus-plus runner whose speed could make him a senior sign.

Jake Snider, 2b/ss, Ballard HS, Louisville, Ky. – Snider is a Louisville signee who has quick hands and a short swing.
