Gonzalez offers an intriguing package of athleticism and three plus tools as a lefthanded hitter. He fits a classic right-field profile with a plus arm that is among the best in the high school ranks. He has posted plus times in the 60-yard dash as a long-striding runner, but his times play as average at best out of the box. Gonzalez can put on a show in batting practice with plus raw power to his pull side. These tools give him the potential to go in the top three rounds, but questions about his ability to hit in games and baseball aptitude will likely push him lower. Despite above-average bat speed and leverage in his easy swing, he has inconsistent swing mechanics, particularly his stride, and becomes more of a singles hitter up the middle and to the opposite field in games. He also faces questions about his contact rate. Gonzalez is somewhat raw defensively and doesn't get great jumps off the bat. The 6-foot, 192-pounder has a lean, athletic build with long arms, earning the nickname "Stretch." Once a Central Florida commit, the 19-year-old Gonzalez is currently committed to Miami Dade CC.
