Scouts have seen Pehl hit, just not consistently enough. The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder has to hit because he's moved down the defensive spectrum, shifting from second base as a freshman and sophomore to left field as a junior. Pehl hit .329 with six home runs in the Cape Cod League after his freshman year, starring for Yarmouth-Dennis, but he hasn't hit that well since then, both in the Cape and with Washington. He's aggressive to a fault, but he's gotten to his power a bit more as a junior, hitting a career-best five home runs. He's a marginal defender who has the strength and swing mechanics to hit for average and power. He's a grinder who at times carries bad at-bats into the field with him.
