Parr led NCAA Division I in hitting for part of the spring and ranked third at the end of the regular season with a .415 average, and he recorded a school-record 33-game hitting streak that was the second-longest in the nation this year, making him the Big 10 Conference player of the year. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound lefthanded hitter has quick hands at the plate but batted .290 as a junior in 2012, when he got too spread out in his stance. He improved his year once he became more upright. Parr doesn't have a standout tool, but he's solid across the board, with gap power, speed and arm strength. After spending his first college season at Parkland (Ill.) CC, he started at second base for the Illini in 2011, in left field in 2012 and in center this year. He's one of three Parr brothers to play at Illinois. The oldest, Josh, was a shortstop drafted in the 12th round by the Diamondbacks in 2011. Justin's twin Jordan is a redshirt junior who plays left field and got picked in the 26th round by the Dodgers last year. He is bigger and stronger than Justin, but he's not as polished or versatile.
