The younger brother of Nick Castellanos, Ryan Castellanos won three straight Florida state championships at Archbishop McCarthy High and was drafted in the 34th round by the White Sox in 2012. He went on to Illinois to begin his college career, before returning to south Florida for his junior season as a transfer at Nova Southeastern. Castellanos doesn't have overwhelming stuff, but understands what kind of pitcher he is and what he has to do to succeed. He fills up the strike zone with his fastball, which he throws 88-92 mph. He doesn't have a true out pitch, but has some feel for both his breaking ball and changeup. Castellanos has good size (he's listed at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds) and earns praise for his pitchability.
