A 30th-round pick of the Phillies in 2015 who opted to return for his senior season, Nowlin was rewarded with a spot in the Colonels' record book. In his final game of his EKU career, Nowlin his his 21st home run of the season, breaking the school record for home runs in a season. It also ranked second in the nation at the end of the regular season. His 49 career home runs were third most in school history. Nowlin's pro prospects are all based around his power. The squat-but-strong 6-foot, 240-pound outfielder runs better than one would expect (he's a 6.9-7.0 runner in the 60-yard dash) and plays a fringe-average left field. He has legitimate all-fields power, but how much he can tap into as a pro will depend on how well he can refine his hitting approach--he does draw walks but doesn't make enough contact to have even an average hit tool. His above-average power potential will make him a useful senior sign.
