MLB Mock Draft
Happy 2021! We're kicking off the new year with our initial mock draft, making selections for every team in the first round.
As always with mock drafts this time of year, it’s important to note that this is more of a guessing game for entertainment purposes and to see how the class is shaping up right now. We have spoken to scouts over the last few months to get a feel for which players are moving up and down boards during the fall season and will soon have our first combined 2021 draft list.
For this mock draft, we have once again recruited an industry insider to make alternating picks with me—hopefully to add more real value to the process. Our scouting department official will make the first pick and then select players for every odd numbered team. Baseball America will make the selections for every even numbered team.
While the 2021 class faces more unknowns than a typical class would at this point in the year—particularly on the college side—Vanderbilt righthander Kumar Rocker remains be the early favorite to go 1-1. After Rocker, the college class is filled with outfielders and pitchers with stuff but limited track record, while the high school class is top-heavy on up-the-middle athletes and pitchers with loud pure stuff.
