Welcome to our 2026 midseason draft rankings update for college prospects in the 2027 class, which features a new name at No. 1 plus all-new draft reports for the top 100 players.
Oregon State righthander Dax Whitney moves into the No. 1 spot on the board thanks to legitimate front-of-the-rotation upside backed by a fastball that now sits in the upper 90s and has been up to 101 mph. Whitney has been one of the most dominant pitchers in the country this season, and would be the top-ranked pitching prospect in the 2026 class if he were eligible.
Whitney supplants Florida shortstop Brendan Lawson, who is still putting up an excellent season of his own with more walks, more power and more overall production than his already impressive 2025 freshman season—all while handling a more difficult defensive assignment.
While Whitney and Lawson provide two strong headliners at the top, the 2027 college group overall is overflowing with high-octane pitchers.
Texas leads all programs with six ranked players. Florida and Tennessee are tied with five players, while LSU, TCU, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest are all tied with four apiece.
